Cake Success

You're all in luck (ha! It's St. Patrick's day--luck) I snapped a picture of the cake with my phone on the way out the door.

Not too shabby, huh?

Okay you guys, these roses are so easy. I think after I had the base coat of frosting on it only took me 5 minutes to do the roses. That's fast and I think it turned out pretty well. Two swirls for each rose--that's it! With the big tip you cover a lot of area quickly. You may notice little yellow things in the frosting, it's lemon zest and supposed to be there.

I'll be honest that I was a little disappointed in the cake. But it is one of those things you can't taste before leaving the house. And I don't think it was the recipes fault--cooked a little long=dry cake. And I didn't think the frosting was lemony enough, which again was my doing. Perhaps a trial run could have helped.

I returned home with an empty cake stand, so it couldn't have been too bad, right?

Find a reason soon to frost a cake like this...maybe St. Patrick's day? You've got plenty of time still.
